Biogas community to gather at leading industry events

NEC Birmingham – The World Biogas Summit and Expo are the world’s leading events solely dedicated to anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas, attended by industry leaders, policymakers and technology providers from around the world.  This year’s gathering will be held on 9-10 July at the NEC in Birmingham.

Organised by the World Biogas Association (WBA), the Summit offers two days of high-level strategic debates on all the key aspects of this fast-developing sector – from the international context and emerging markets to waste management, city infrastructure and finance.

This senior level forum will highlight the increasingly significant role the biogas industry plays in providing solutions to climate change and other global challenges – such as energy and food security as well as air and ocean pollution.

Past speakers have included  the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, the US Deputy Special Envoy for Climate, Richard Duke, the Former Agriculture Minister and French Government Spokesperson Stéphane Le Foll, the CEO of GRDF Edouard Sauvage, and the UK Government Climate Envoy and former VP and Special Envoy for Climate Change of the World Bank, Professor Rachel Kyte.

This year’s event themed around ‘from Waste to Wealth’, will look forward to COP30 in Brazil and the role of biogas in keeping the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement within reach.   Drawing from the WBA’s ongoing #MakingBiogasHappen Programme and international climate directives, the Summit will discuss how to mobilise climate financing, exemplify national climate leadership and showcase innovative technologies among other pressing topics for the sector. It will continue to highlight the huge potential of the biogas sector in promoting the transition to clean energy and decarbonised agriculture, to achieve food security, sustainable waste management and a circular economy.

Meanwhile, the co-located World Biogas Expo, co-organised with the UK’s Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA), will showcase to visitors the latest innovations, services and technologies driving progress in the sector. Over 150 companies will exhibit products and services relating to AD, agriculture, land management, waste and recycling, utilities and more.

Both Summit and Expo will also provide ample opportunities to network and share knowledge and expertise.  These are must-attend events for anyone interested in exploring this rapidly growing and game-changing industry.
